Dave Jensen took Lee's jackknife and fought over it. Jensen broke Strunk's nose and later broke his own because of guilt. Jensen went to apologize to Strunk and they made a pact. Their pact was for one to kill the other if he is badly wounded.

DeleteThe incident with the water buffalo was pretty harsh. Rat Kiley kept shooting the buffalo until he finally died. The way they described it was very upsetting and it felt like you were basically there shooting the buffalo yourself. I think Rat Kiley killed the buffalo because of Curt Lemon dyeing. Rat was probably depressed and just wanted violence. So I guess because of the depression and the way he felt, he decided to go out and do something harsh to try to make his feelings better.

DeleteThe became friends once Dave Jensen when and broke his nose after Jensen broke Strunks nose. The agreement they made was that if either one of them got an injury that they would get put in a wheelchair that who ever it was they would kill the other person.
ReplyDeleteDave Jenson and Lee Strunk got in to a argument over a stolen jackknife. They got into a fight and eventually Dave Jenson broke Strunk's nose. after Strunk got back from the hospital Jenson went almost crazy until one night he used the butt of a pistol to break his own nose. Once Jenson showed this to Strunk they immediately became friends.

DeleteCurt Lemon and Rat Kailey were playing catch and Lemon came into the sunlight and when he stepped he triggered a rigged 105 round and blew him up. He was blown into many pieces into a tree. O'Brien and Dave Jenson had to get all of him out of the tree. As they were doing that Jenson was singing "the lemon tree".

DeleteHe didn't become crazy, he became anxious and paranoid. There's a huge difference. Crazy would be like seeing dead people and their faces melting off.

ReplyDelete3. the baby water buffalo incident was heartbreaking and and horrific for me. They found it roaming around and they brought it with them. That evening Rat Kiley shot it first on its leg and then everywhere else and watch it suffer in silence. The only thing that seemed alive was the eyes. After they shot it all over they threw in in the well and Kiley went off and was crying because of the death of his best friend Curt Lemon. I think it did it because he was so mortified and depressed because of his friends death. When your depressed you do crazy things I guess. When your sad you just have to get your feelings out, I know what happened wasn’t exactually humane but he was hurting emotionally and felt the pain inside from the recent events

The two also promised that if one of them are to be wheelchair bound, the other would find a way to end it. but the two didnt automatically become friends. It took time, to let the tensions die down and the space to clear.

ReplyDelete3. Later on when they were waking throughout the mountains they came across a baby VC water buffalo. They chased it down and caught it then led it along to a deserted village where they were going to set up. After they got settled and ate supper Rat Kiley tried to feed it and stroked its nose. He stepped back and shot the buffalo in the right knee, then shot off his ear, the hindquarters, and the small hump at its back. He just intended to torture the buffalo, not to kill. I think he done this because he felt so much hurt when he watched his best friend, Curt Lemons, die and wanted to take out all the hurt and anger on the buffalo.

ReplyDeleteA: It all started with a fight between both of them. Then after Jensen broke Strunks nose he felt bad. So Jensen broke his own nose because he felt very bad for doing it to Strunk. They made an agreement to kill the person who got injured really badly. When Strunk was severely damaged, Jensen couldn’t kill him so he let someone do it for him. Because friends should not hurt each other.

ReplyDeleteJenson and Strunk became friends after Jenson broke Strunk's nose and he thought that Jenson was going to do something to him and he couldn't stopped thinking about it so he broke his own nose to finish with it. After that they started to trust and protect each other. They weren't truly friends but they trust each other.

In the chapter Rat had killed a baby buffalo for no reason !!! it was wrong! it had nothing to do with the war and he should of took it out on something else and would have made a difference
